Our 3 Step Product Videography Process
1. Pre-Production
Idea Generation
Meeting 1: Initial meeting
Our main objective during the first meeting is to understand the product. Every product would have a little bit of uniqueness to it; a video about shoes could have a theme of comfort, a video about makeup could have a theme of beauty, and a video about watches could have a theme of luxury, or sportiness, depending on the type of watch. Nailing this idea of the “theme” of our video would help us generate ideas for locations, props, lighting, and how our shots will be taken and how our video should be edited.
Following this, we will also want to cover
- Your target audience
- Expectations for the shoot
- Examples of other types of product videos that have done well
- Answer any of your questions
The last thing we would do is to go through any past videos which have performed very well or that you like. It may not have the be the same type of product, we want to keep our ideas open and see if there are other themes that can be pulled from other types of products. Once we have gone through all these, we aim to have a common vision the type of video we want to create and can move forwards with planning the logistics for the shoot, as well as the storyboards, shotlist, and equipment list to be presented to you in subsequent meetings.
Subsequent Meetings
We will be in frequent contact with you to update on progress, present our video ideas and storyboards, and the logistics such as the shot list, equipment list, casting call, and budget. Once all the pre-production needs have been met, we are ready to proceed to our videography!
2. Production
Videography
The process of videography varies heavily depending on the type of product we shooting for.
Some products should be presented in a beautiful studio setting with soft lighting. While other products should be presented in an outdoors environment. Some products also need to be worn by a subject while other products don't need to.
Many of these details will be fully taken care of during our pre-production, so as to ensure our videography goes as smoothly as possible.
We like to tackle the hardest shots first. This is to make sure we can get the difficult things right first, and if we need to speed up towards the end it will be smoother, when we are left with the easier shots. We would stick to the storyboards and shotlist initially as discussed with you, but moments of inspiration can strike at any time and we are always open to improvising on set and being creative.
After each take, we always take the initiative to check back with you to see if the shot they see is what you have imagined in your head. If it isn’t, then we can physically see the set and make necessary changes on the spot.
3. Post-Production
Video Editing
Music like with our videography, the style of the edits will vary depending on the theme of the product. We will initially stick to the original idea intended for the video and present them to you first, but we are always open to adjusting the tempo or pace of the video if necessary.
During the editing process, you are always welcomed to check in on progress and be as hands on as you'd like with the editing. Most of the hard work should be done during the pre-production phase with our planning and storyboards, but if there are things that you would like adjusted while we are editing we will be happy to do so for you.

Create Your Product Video With Us!
Standing out is the name of the game for us as videographers.
Not only do we want our videos to be of high-quality, but we try out best to make every one of our videos with some kind of artistic finesse. Coming from our background in music video production, we believe we are able to bring a touch of flare into our product videos. We want to create a piece of art that people will remember after watching it, to elevate and showcase your product in a way that can leave a lasting impression on potential customers.
This feeling is the most crucial thing we need to get right. Buying a product can often an emotional decision especially if you are selling your product online through e-commerce, and it is important for us to accurately convey this feeling over to our audience when they watch the product video. Much like how good food advertisements always lead you to magically starting to crave that exact food after watching the video. Understanding the psychology behind the decision is what's important to us.
We also aren't afraid to try weird and whacky ideas, or to try out trends that are hot in the moment, like how many short form product advertisements now starts off with a meme or something funny to grab your attention, and then transition to the actual video.
Frequently Asked Questions
On average, it would take about 2-3 meetings with our clients to plan the video and arrange all the necessary logistics during pre-production. The overall duration will vary heavily depending on the props they want, to artistic decisions, and required crew. After these meetings, we will research on how to achieve the intended video through showing video examples, having test shots and effects as example for what the client wants, or even assisting with casting. These phrases can span up to about 1-2 weeks, depending on each other’s schedules.
During production, for, let’s say, a 3-minute video, would usually take 2-3 shoot days. Shoot days can vary from back-to-back shoot days, or alternating ones. Usually, back-to-back shoot days are more ideal to suit rentals needs such as equipment or location or both, which can save trouble for traveling, planning, and costs.
During post production, usually piecing together and editing a rough cut would take
about 2 days, and then one day for offline cut, and then online cut. In total, how long 1 video would take is about 1 week to edit.
With all these in mind, the process can last anywhere between 2 weeks to multiple months, depending on how complex and long the product video is.
Product videography itself is less focused on the quantity of the videos, but rather, beautifying the product specifically. Marketing Videography, on the other hand, would be more focused on outreach to the target audience.
For example, promoting a canned drink with a video would fit more towards product videography. However, promoting the business itself is more suited to our marketing videography services.
Product videography would be under the category of anything physical. If the product to be promoted is something digital, this would fall under the premise of marketing videography.
Yes, we can. Product videography work hand-in-hand with marketing videography.
However, if marketing videography is specifically requested, we would be quoting under the budget breakdown formula of the marketing videography model.
It depends what changes has to be made. For editing, changes can be made easier, as re-editing it requires us to go back into the editing platform and just make the necessary changes (i.e. changing captions, transitions, music, etc). We will be happy to make these small adjustments. Our common practice is to keep our video product and editing project file for at least 2 months before deleting them for safety. Anything after 2 months cannot be changed and is final.
However, any changes that have to be made with filming will be harder (i.e. reshooting a scene, changing locations, changing casts, etc). If these changes are made halfway during post-productions and if these are just simple pick up shots, it can still be done. However, once the final product has been done, unlike the first scenario on post-production changes, it will be a lot harder to reshoot and even re-edit the changed scenes. We will have to charge minimally $500 for the changes to be made.
