Our 3 Step Marketing Videography Process

1. Pre-Production

Idea generation

We start by understanding your target audience, as that forms the foundation for our ideas. Following that, we will proceed with:

  • Storyboarding
  • Roleplaying your target audience
  • Finding inspirations by brainstorming difference perspectives to better market to your target audience, while aligning with you business/brand

We also aim to think of sustainable ways to shoot engaging content that can be posted frequently, as short form content via TikTok, Youtube Shorts, and Instagram reels are some of the best places to market your business/brand nowadays.

Initial Meeting

Our objectives for the first meeting would be to cover:

  • Understanding the business and brand
  • Expectations for the shoot
  • Examples of other types of marketing videos in the same niche that have done well
  • Answer any of your questions

The main focus when creating a video to market your business and brand is to understand it first; who it is for, what problem does it solve, and what should people feel when they interact and transact with your business. The feeling you want people to get is the most important out of the 3 because making a purchase can often be an emotional decision which we are trying to target in our videos. We also want to make sure the videos aligns with your brand’s vibe and uniqueness too, so during the initial meeting we want to get a good feel for that and to understand you as a person and your goals in the long run from our videos.

Lastly, we would want to find inspirations by looking through past videos in the same niche that have done very well in the past, and try to emulate things that were successful. After gathering all these necessary information, we will all be on the same page and can start to generate good potential video ideas and present them to you in subsequent meetings.

Example: While working with Project Enigma, a puzzle based shop. We visited the shop, tried out the puzzles and met with the owners to discuss the how they want their video to be made, going through the points mentioned above. To us, the most fun part of making these marketing videos is the uniqueness of each business and brand. By going down to your business, experiencing the atmosphere there and speaking to you, there is a “vibe” that we pick up that can’t be put into words. This is what makes every place we go to special, and we are passionate about translating these feelings across through our videos.

Subsequent Meetings

We will be in frequent contact with you to update on progress, present our video ideas and storyboards, and the logistics such as the shot list, equipment list, casting call, and budget. Once all the pre-production needs have been met, we are ready to proceed to our videography!

2. Production

Videography

One unique thing about marketing video shoots is that sometimes, the shoot can happen in the client’s store itself, and business does not stop just because of a shoot. So, we would have a small team of crowd controllers to prevent people from accidentally walking into frame during a shot, and that our shoot does not diminish the experience of the customers during their time in our client’s store. As it is a not a controlled set environment, we will be adaptable to any changes that need to be made on the spot.

We like to tackle the hardest shots first. This is to make sure we can get the difficult things right first, and if we need to speed up towards the end it will be smoother, when we are left with the easier shots. We would stick to the storyboards and shotlist initially as discussed with you, but moments of inspiration can strike at any time and we are always open to improvising on set and being creative.

After each take, we always take the initiative to check back with you to see if the shot they see is what you have imagined in your head. If it isn’t, then we can physically see the set and make necessary changes on the spot.

3. Post-Production

Video Editing

During the editing process, you are always welcomed to check in on progress and be as hands on as you'd like with the editing. Most of the hard work should be done during the pre-production phase with our planning and storyboards, but if there are things that you would like adjusted while we are editing we will be happy to do so for you.

Our editing focuses on making the shots flow nicely first, then stylising it. We do not have a strict editing flow, as we do not want to limit the creativity on which the shots can be used for.

Finding a schedule and frequency

An extra final step we do (if necessary) is to reflect back after our first video is released to see if this process is sustainable for future videos. If it is not, then we will look into what we can do to change that.

For example: If there should be a video posted once every 2 weeks, and the whole process of shooting 2 videos at once took 1.5 months, then we have to shorten the shoot cycle (Frequency of posting shouldn’t be touched unless there is no choice. If frequency is compromised, so will the viewership of the videos). This also means that video editing could clash with the pre-production of a new shoot cycle, so it might not be an ideal sacrifice to make. A good sustainable schedule is what we are trying to achieve.

As a follow up, we will also track traffic the video has generated to see how well the video is doing and how we could improve on a potential future video together.

Create Your Digital Marketing Video With Us!

Marketing is one of the most important factor to any business, here are some principles we like to follow when creating any marketing video.

Unique selling point
For people to want to make a purchase, there must be a sense of need. Chances are high that there are multiple other businesses offer the same product or service. We want to help you stand out by showcasing your uniqueness, to increase the perceived value of your brand, along with your products and services through our high-quality videos.

Frequency
To help maintain mindshare of your brand amongst your target audience, and to get on to the good side of the algorithms of socials media websites, we ideally need to stick to an upload schedule over the long term. This is what we aim to help you achieve, the more viewership, the more it will eventually lead to sales.

Relatability
This is a growing trend that proves that the more relatable a marketing video is, the more impactful it is. People are slowly shifting away from corporate style videos, as they feel "out of reach". So we encourage video ideas which involve more people speaking, more down to earth videos, less "perfect", and overall a more "person to person" feel.

We want our workflow to be a smooth process for you, whether you want a one-time video or a recurring video release schedule, we want to be able to help you handle the other aspects of your business. Focus on your business, and we will handle your video marketing!

Frequently Asked Questions

On average, it would take about 2-3 meetings with our clients/artiste to plan the video and arrange all the necessary logistics during pre-production. The overall duration will vary heavily depending on the props they want, to artistic decisions, and required crew. After these meetings, we will research on how to achieve the intended video through showing video examples, having test shots and effects as example for what the client wants, or even assisting with casting. These phrases can span up to about 1-2 weeks, depending on each other’s schedules.

During production, for, let’s say, a 3-minute video, would usually take 2-3 shoot days. Shoot days can vary from back-to-back shoot days, or alternating ones. Usually, back-to-back shoot days are more ideal to suit rentals needs such as equipment or location or both, which can save trouble for traveling, planning, and costs.

During post production, usually piecing together and editing a rough cut would take

about 2 days, and then one day for offline cut, and then online cut. In total, how long 1 video would take is about 1 week to edit.

With all these in mind, the process can last anywhere between 2 weeks to multiple months, depending on how complex and long the marketing video is.

Product videography itself is less focused on the quantity of the videos, but rather, beautifying the product specifically.

Marketing Videography, on the other hand, would be more focused on outreach to the target audience. For example, promoting a canned drink with a video would fit more towards product videography.

However, promoting the business itself is more suited to our marketing videography services.

We understand that for marketing videography specifically, it does not fit the genre to be promoting our business in the video itself. To promote our services though, we either can get credited in your platform’s video description, or we can collaborate on the post

(Just like Instagram’s collaboration post, where the content will be posted on both parties platform at once)

It depends what changes has to be made. For editing, changes can be made easier, as re-editing it requires us to go back into the editing platform and just make the necessary changes (i.e. changing captions, transitions, music, etc). We will be happy to make these small adjustments. Our common practice is to keep our video product and editing project file for at least 2 months before deleting them for safety. Anything after 2 months cannot be changed and is final.

However, any changes that have to be made with filming will be harder (i.e. reshooting a scene, changing locations, changing casts, etc). If these changes are made halfway during post-productions and if these are just simple pick up shots, it can still be done. However, once the final product has been done, unlike the first scenario on post-production changes, it will be a lot harder to reshoot and even re-edit the changed scenes. We will have to charge minimally $500 for the changes to be made.
